Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, who have been making candles for years as a fundraiser, this week launched Nun’s Run Candle Company, which will donate a portion of its proceeds to charities that help women.
“There are so many women out there who are struggling and we wanted to do something to help them,” said Sister Maureen Kelleher, one of the nuns who started the business.
The candles, which come in scents like lavender, vanilla and cucumber, are made with soy wax and beeswax, and are hand-poured.
“We’re not just making candles, we’re making a difference,” Kelleher said.

“We’ve been giving baskets to these women for years and we’ve seen the difference it makes in their lives,” Kelleher said. “Now we’re hoping that our candles can make an even bigger impact.”
