How To Make Paraffin Candles
The following instructions will show you how to make a paraffin candle. This is a basic candle making technique that can be used to make any size or shape candle.
What you will need:
-Paraffin Wax
-Wick
-Candle Jars or Molds
-Double Boiler
-Thermometer
-Scissors
-Paint Brush
-Spatula
-Candle Wick Holder
1. Start by cutting your wick to the desired length. It is best to cut it a little longer than you need so that you can trim it down to the correct size later.
2. Tie one end of the wick to a pencil and then place the pencil across the top of the jar or mold. This will hold the wick in place while you are pouring the wax.
3. In a double boiler, melt the paraffin wax until it is liquid. Be sure to use a thermometer to monitor the temperature so that the wax does not get too hot.
4. Pour the melted wax into the jar or mold, being careful not to get any wax on the wick.
5. Allow the wax to cool and harden.
6. Trim the wick to the correct size.
