Making Candles With Blocks Of Wax

When making your own candles, you will need the following supplies:
- Blocks of wax
- Candle wicks
- Candle molds
- Double boiler
- Container for melted wax
- Thermometer
- Fragrance, dyes, and other additives (optional)
When melting the blocks of wax, you should use a double boiler to ensure you don’t burn the wax. Most manufacturers recommend melting the wax at a temperature of between 120-165°F. Once melted, you can now add color and scent to the wax. If you are using fragrance oils, then the recommended amount is 2-3%, while dying should always be done on a small batch first to test the colors before adding more to larger batches.
Designing Your Candles
Once you have prepped the wax it is time to start designing your candles. One of the benefits of using blocks of wax is that you can create a variety of designs using different colors and shapes. You can create stripes, swirls, or even lattice patterns with blocks of wax.
Adding the Wick
