Procedure
1. Begin by discussing the history and process of candle making. Explain that candles have been used for centuries to provide light. Discuss the different types of candles and the various methods of making them.
2. Next, students will make their own candles. Give each student a paper plate and have them cut it in half. Tape the two halves together so that it forms a bowl.
3. Pour a small amount of wax into the bowl. Add a wick and carefully place it in the center of the wax.
4. Put the bowl in a pot of boiling water. Be sure to use a pot that is large enough to fit the bowl without the water touching the top.
