technique
This easy stained glass candle holder copper foil technique is a great project for beginners. It is a simple process that results in a beautiful finished product.
You will need the following supplies:
-copper foil
-glass cutter
-tin snips
-lead came
-pointed soldering iron
-solder
– flux
-rag
1. Measure and cut the glass.
Using a glass cutter, measure and mark the glass where you want to cut it. Be sure to use a straight edge to help you make a clean cut. Use a gentle tapping motion with the cutter to score the glass. Then, use a breaking or scoring tool to break the glass along the scored line.
2. Apply copper foil.
Cut a piece of copper foil that is slightly larger than the piece of glass. Apply the copper foil to the glass, making sure to smooth it out. Use a burnisher to help you get a nice, tight seal.
3. Trim the copper foil.
Use tin snips to trim the copper foil around the edge of the glass. Be careful not to cut into the glass.
4. Solder the copper foil.
Use a soldering iron to solder the copper foil to the glass. Be sure to use flux to help the solder stick to the copper foil.
5. Cut the lead came.
Cut a piece of lead came that is slightly larger than the piece of glass.
6. Attach the lead came.
Apply flux to the back of the lead came and attach it to the glass. Use a soldering iron to solder the lead came to the glass.
7. Solder the lead came to the copper foil.
Use a soldering iron to solder the lead came to the copper foil.
8. Finishing up.
Use a flux brush to apply flux to the solder joints. Use a soldering iron to heat the joints and apply solder. Wipe the solder off with a rag.
Vintage Copper Taper Candle Making
Making candles is a fun and easy way to get in to candle making. There are many different ways you can make candles, but in this tutorial we will be making Vintage Copper Taper Candles. These candles are simple to make and give a beautiful vintage look to your candles.
What you will need:
-copper taper candle holders
-copper wire
-wire cutters
-scissors
-candle wax
-wax melting pot
-candle wick
-double boiler
-cotton balls
-essential oil (optional)
To start, cut a piece of copper wire about 18 inches long. Bend the wire in to a loop, and use the wire cutters to cut off any excess wire.
Next, use the scissors to cut the candle wick in to 6 inch pieces.
Now, it is time to start melting the wax. Put the wax in to the melting pot and set it on the stove. Melt the wax until it is liquid.
While the wax is melting, you can start to prepare the copper taper candle holders. Cut a piece of copper wire about 12 inches long. Bend the wire in to a loop, and use the wire cutters to cut off any excess wire.
Now, it is time to assemble the candles. Take a piece of copper wire and thread it through the loop on the top of the candle holder.
Next, take a piece of candle wick and thread it through the hole in the copper wire.
Now, take another piece of copper wire and thread it through the loop on the bottom of the candle holder.
Finally, use the wire cutters to cut off any excess copper wire.
Now, it is time to pour the wax in to the candle holders. Put the candle holders in to the double boiler and pour the wax in to the holders.
Once the wax has cooled, you can add essential oil to the candles if desired. To do this, put a few drops of essential oil on to a cotton ball and attach the cotton ball to the wick of the candle.
Your Vintage Copper Taper Candles are now finished!
Easy Way To Measure Jar For Candle Making
When measuring your jar for candle making, it is important to use a method that is both accurate and easy. One way to do this is to use a kitchen scale. This will ensure that your candles are the same size and have the same burning time.
To measure your jar for candle making, place it on the kitchen scale. Zero out the scale by pressing the “Tare” button. This will ensure that the weight of the jar is not included in the measurement.
Now, pour water into the jar until it is full. Note the weight of the water on the scale. This is the weight of your jar.
Now, you can use this measurement to determine how much wax you need to make your candle. Simply divide the weight of the water by the weight of the wax. This will give you the number of ounces of wax you need to make your candle.
When making your candle, be sure to use a wax that has a melting point that is lower than the boiling point of water. This will ensure that your wax will not melt when you pour it into the jar.
What Type Of Wax Is Considered A Hard Wax For Candle Making
?
In the candle making world, there are two main types of wax: paraffin and beeswax. Within those two categories, there are different types of waxes that can be used for candle making, including hard waxes and soft waxes.
Paraffin wax is a type of mineral oil that is made up of hydrocarbons. It is a by-product of the petroleum refining process and is the most common type of wax used in candle making. It is a soft wax that can be easily melted and is available in both solid and liquid form.
Beeswax is made up of a blend of fatty acids and is the natural wax produced by honey bees. It is a hard wax that has a high melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
Within the category of hard waxes, there are a variety of different types of wax that can be used for candle making, including:
-Soy wax: Soy wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from soybeans. It is a soft wax that has a low melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Palm wax: Palm wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the palm fruit. It is a hard wax that has a high melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Bayberry wax: Bayberry wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the bayberry fruit. It is a hard wax that has a high melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Carnauba wax: Carnauba wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the carnauba palm. It is a hard wax that has a high melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Beeswax: Beeswax is a type of beeswax that is made from the honey bee. It is a hard wax that has a high melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
Within the category of soft waxes, there are a variety of different types of wax that can be used for candle making, including:
-Soy wax: Soy wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from soybeans. It is a soft wax that has a low melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Paraffin wax: Paraffin wax is a type of mineral oil that is made up of hydrocarbons. It is a soft wax that can be easily melted and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Palm wax: Palm wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the palm fruit. It is a soft wax that has a low melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Bayberry wax: Bayberry wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the bayberry fruit. It is a soft wax that has a low melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.
-Carnauba wax: Carnauba wax is a type of vegetable wax that is made from the carnauba palm. It is a soft wax that has a low melting point and is available in both solid and liquid form.

Diluted Or Undiluted Essential Oils For Candle Making
?
When it comes to candle making, there are a lot of different factors to consider. What kind of wax is best for my project? What kind of fragrance should I use? How much should I use?
One of the most important decisions you’ll make when it comes to candles is what kind of essential oil to use. There are two main types of essential oils: diluted and undiluted.
Diluted essential oils are pre-mixed with a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. This makes them safe to use in candles, and it also extends the life of the fragrance. Diluted essential oils are typically used in candles made with paraffin wax or soy wax.
Undiluted essential oils are not mixed with a carrier oil. They are 100% pure essential oil, and they should only be used in candles made with beeswax or soy wax. Undiluted essential oils are more potent than diluted essential oils, so you’ll need to use less of them.
When it comes to choosing which type of essential oil to use, it’s important to consider the type of wax you’re using. If you’re using paraffin wax or soy wax, you should use diluted essential oils. If you’re using beeswax, you should use undiluted essential oils.
