Step 1: Gather Your Materials ” You will need wax, wicks, a heat source (a double boiler or microwave), an old saucepan, a measuring cup, a wooden stir stick and essential oils.
Step 2: Create the Wax-Melt ” Choose which type of wax you’d like to use for your candle; soy or paraffin are both very popular. Once you have selected the right type of wax for you project, measure out its weight in the measuring cup and add it to the saucepan. If you’re using essential oils at this point is when they should be added.
Step 3: Heat the Wax- Over low heat, allow the wax to melt slowly until it comes to a liquid state. Keep stirring so that all clumps are removed and everything melts evenly. Keep an eye on it but don’t worry if it does boil over as this will happen sometimes!
Step 4: Prepping the Mason Jar ” While your wax is melting heat up some water in the double boiler or microwave (make sure it isn’t boiling). Place your mason jar on top of this hot water bath and make sure to precut your wick in order for it to fit perfectly at center of your candle jar. Tape each end down/secure with adhesive so that they don’t move while adding wax.
Step 5: Pouring Your Candle – Now pour the melted wax into your mason jar slowly but confidently aiming towards one side so that the wick stands straight in center of container. Once poured fill almost all rest of container with wax pouring away from wick only leaving 1in gap from top as this allows space for lid and prevents burnt wick tip as consequence when burning later on. Allow 24 hours undisturbed drying time before removing any left lingering tape or adhesive used earlier on prepping jar itself by using soap & warm water then adding desired lid being sure not to place directly onto newly made candle!
Step 6: Finishing and Enjoyment – Before lighting make sure candle is free from debris then light carefully following recommended instructions mentioned online and most likely found on back side package when purchased items mentioned above (i.e.-labeling how tall keep from flammable objects).
