Are you an experienced candle maker or a novice looking to start making your own candles? If so, making glass vessels for candle making is a great way for you to encompass your own creativity and craftsmanship with a quality, long lasting product. Here we will explain the tips and tricks behind making glass vessels for candles.

##Things You Will Need

In order to make a glass vessel for candle making you will need the following items:

* Thick walled glass
* Glass cutter
* Glass saw
* File
* Steel wool
* Jar of wax
* Wicks
* Mug warmer
* Glue gun
* Tiny weights (optional)

##Cutting the Glass

Using the glass cutter, cut the glass at an angle that will ensure the candle will fit securely inside the vessel. Be sure to use two dots to complete the cut. Place the saw at the starting point of the cut, and cut slowly and carefully across the line you made with the glass cutter.

Once the glass is cut, use a file to lightly sand down any sharp edges left from cutting.

##Preparing the Vessel

Wash the vessel with soap and warm water before preparing for wicking. Make sure to remove any small glass particles and dirt that may be present. Feel around the inside of the vessel for any sharp edges left from filing down the cut.

##Attaching the Wicks

Using a glue gun, carefully attach the wick to the bottom of the vessel. Glue the metal or thread from the end of the wick to the bottom of the glass. Once the glue is affixed, use tiny weights onto the opposite end of the wick to ensure that it is held in a centered position.

##Melting the Wax

Using the mug warmer, melt the wax slowly, stirring occasionally. Once the wax has been melted, pour into the vessel with the wick. If desired, add color and fragrance to the wax. Insert a thermometer into the wax and ensure that it does not exceed 190°F prior to pouring.

##Allowing the Wax to Cool

Once the wax has been poured and allowed to cool, trim the wick to the desired height so that it is approximately 1/4” above the wax surface.
