Once you have your wax, you’ll need to melt it. You can do this in a pot on the stove, or in a microwave-safe container. If you’re using a pot on the stove, be sure to use a low heat, and stir the wax occasionally to keep it from burning. If you’re using a microwave, heat the wax in short bursts, stirring in between, until it’s fully melted.
Now it’s time to add your scent. You can use any essential oil you like, but be sure to use a high quality oil, as the cheaper oils will often leave a unpleasant aftertaste in your candles. Add a few drops of oil to the melted wax, and stir to combine.
Finally, it’s time to add the wick. Cut a length of wick that’s about twice the height of the candle you’re making, and place it in the center of the melted wax. Use a pair of tweezers to hold the wick in place while the wax hardens.
Once the wax has hardened, trim the wick to about 1/4” in length, and your candle is ready to use.
