How To Make Wax Candles

Gather Your Supplies

Step 1: Melt the Wax

If you would like your candles to have a scent, slowly add in the fragrance. Stir the wax slowly with a wooden spoon or popsicle stick to make sure the fragrance is evenly distributed.
Step 3: Prepare the Wick
Once the wax is melted, you must prepare the wick before pouring the wax into the mold. Cut the wick to the desired length (about 1 inch longer than the mold). Dip one end of the wick into the melted wax, then tie the other end around a pencil so that the wick is centered in the mold. This will help keep the wick in place as the wax hardens.

Once the wick is in place, carefully and slowly pour the melted wax into the mold. Make sure the melted wax is not too hot before pouring. Fill the mold to the desired height.

- Use a thermometer: Use a candy thermometer to make sure the wax is not too hot before pouring into the mold. The optimal temperature for pouring is between 145–165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use a mold: If you don’t have a mold, you can use glasses, jars, or containers to hold the melted wax. Just make sure the container or jar is heat safe and can withstand the melted wax.
- Allow wax to cool:It’s important to allow the wax to cool completely before removing it from the mold. Otherwise, the candle may not be as sturdy and can break apart easily.
