You will need the following materials:
-1 piece of wood (I used a piece of pine that was about 12″x12″x1″)
-1 jigsaw
-1 drill
-1 drill bit (I used a 1/2″ bit)
-1 coping saw
-1 chisel
-1 hammer
-1 candle
-1 level
-1 tape measure
-1 straight edge
-1 pencil
-1 safety goggles
-1 dust mask
-1 pair of gloves
Step 1:
Measure and mark the location of the candle holder on the piece of wood. I centered mine on the wood so that it was symmetrical, but you can put yours wherever you like. Use a straight edge and a pencil to draw a line across the wood where you will be cutting.
Step 2:
Use a jigsaw to cut out the shape of the candle holder. Be sure to wear safety goggles and a dust mask while doing this.
Step 3:
Use a drill to make a hole in the center of the candle holder. I used a 1/2″ bit, but you can use whatever size you like.
Step 4:
Use a coping saw to cut out the center of the candle holder. This will allow the candle to fit inside.
Step 5:
Use a chisel to smooth out the edges of the candle holder.
Step 6:
Hammer a nail into the bottom of the candle holder. This will hold the candle in place.
Step 7:
Measure the height of the candle.
Step 8:
Cut a piece of wood that is the same height as the candle.
Step 9:
Drill a hole in the center of the piece of wood that you just cut.
Step 10:
Use a screw to attach the piece of wood to the bottom of the candle holder.
Step 11:
Your candle holder is now complete! Enjoy!
