# Making Candles With Old Candles
We all love candles and we all use them, whether as essential house lighting before the advent of electricity, or for decorative and cozy feeling in our living and working space. But what about making candles with old candles? Have you ever thought about repurposing them for a great DIY project?
Making candles with old candles is a simple, easy, fun and economical way to use up leftover wax, candles, and create something special. Let’s explore how you can do it:
## Step One: Choose and Gather the Supplies
The type of materials you will need to make your candle will vary, depending on the size and shape of the candle you are making.
You’ll need:
* Old candles
* Wax chips
* Melting pot
* Candle wick
* Containers to pour the melted wax
## Step Two: Separate the Wick from the Wax
Using a sharp knife or a pair of pliers, gently remove the wick from the old candle. This can take some effort but is necessary for the reuse of the wax.
## Step Three: Melt the Wax
Heat up the wax chips in the melting pot until it has melted completely. This can take several minutes depending on the amount of wax.
## Step Four: Add the Wick
Next, you need to add the wick to the melted wax by placing the wick at the bottom of your container and pressing it down gently.
## Step Five: Pour the Wax
Finally, pour the melted wax into the container of your choice and let it cool. Once cooled, your candle is ready to be enjoyed!
## Tips and Tricks
Here are a few tips to help make your DIY candle project successful:
* Use the wax left over from old candles. It won’t provide the same scent but will help with the texture of your candle.
* Work in a well-ventilated area.
* If you want the scent to linger, add essential oils to the melted wax.
* For something special, use more than one color to make a colorful candle.
* To attach the wick securely to the bottom of the container, use a dab of melted wax.
Making candles with old candles is a great way to reuse and repurpose materials. With a recycled wax, you can create something beautiful and unique. Plus, it’s an enjoyable and creative DIY project that you can do with family and friends. So give it a try if you have old candles lying around — you won’t be disappointed!
