Making Candles With Terpenes

- Gather the materials: You will need a double boiler, soy wax, terpenes, a candle vessel, a wick and clip, and a thermometer.
- Melt the wax: Heat the wax in a double boiler on low for 10 minutes. If the wax is too thick, add some more.
- Mix in the terpenes: Add 5-10 drops of terpenes to the melted wax and stir until combined.
- Test the scent: Dip the thermometer into the wax and wait for it to cool. When the thermometer is cool to the touch, smell it to make sure the scent is strong enough.
- Pour the wax: Carefully pour the melted wax into the candle vessel and insert the wick.
- Allow to cool: Clip the wick in place and let the candle cool completely before trimming the wick and lighting it.
Tips for Making Candles with Terpenes
- It’s best to use soy wax when making terpene candles because the wax has natural emollients and will help keep the scent strong.
- When measuring out your terpenes, you may find it helpful to mix them with a carrier oil, such as almond or coconut oil. This will help keep them from evaporating too quickly.
- When melting the wax, make sure that it is not too hot to touch when you dip the thermometer in.
- When pouring the wax, make sure to move quickly as it will harden quickly.
- If you are having trouble getting the wick to stay in place, try using a wick bar or glue dots.
