I’m often asked how to make soy wax pillar candles. It’s not a difficult process, but there are a few things to keep in mind. The first step is to choose the right soy wax. There are two types of soy wax, hydrogenated and non-hydrogenated. Non-hydrogenated soy wax is the best choice for making pillar candles, because it is harder and less likely to melt in hot weather.
The next step is to measure the wax. It’s important to use the right amount of wax, or the candle will not burn correctly. For a 6-inch pillar, you will need about 2 pounds of wax.
The next step is to melt the wax. You can do this in a double boiler, or in a microwave-safe container. Be careful not to overheat the wax, or it will start to smoke.
