Section 2: Melting Wax and Adding Scent

Place the melting pot on a low heat and add a third of your wax flakes. Use the thermometer to check that the temperature doesn’t exceed 120F. When melted, carefully pour in 30ml of your fragrance oil or essential oil mixture into the jug containing wax liquid. Mix it slowly with a spoon while it cools to 110F. Introduce Different Types of Wood Wicks

Wood wicks can add a unique and special touch to soy candles and there are several types of wood wicks available. For example, cotton-braid wood wicks provide a consistent, smooth burning flame as well as high crackling sound effects when lit. Flat wooden wicks are larger than cotton-braid ones but also provide a longer burn time and create fewer smoke emissions. Twisted wooden wicks are well suited for soy wax which enables them to burn steadily while still providing an even flame. Finally, paper core wood wicks have become more popular in recent years due to their ease of use in combination with soy waxes, resulting in less sooting and quicker scent throw.
