Proper Wax Melting and Pouring Techniques
When melting soy wax for candle making, it is important to use the correct heating techniques for the best results. It is generally recommended that soy wax is heated in a double boiler on low-medium heat rather than a direct flame. As it melts, stirring with a spoon or stirring stick should be done periodically to ensure even heating and to prevent burning. Once the wax has achieved the desired temperature, it should then be poured into a prepared mold.
While pouring the melted wax into the mold, if care is not taken, air bubbles can form which can cause cracking in your finished candles. To avoid this, pay close attention while pouring and gently tap the sides of your mold in order to release any air bubbles that may be stuck between wax layers as you pour. Doing so will create smoother and stronger candles later on.
Additionally, be sure to ensure that all supplies used in this process are clean, otherwise debris may get stuck within the wax as it cools and crystallizes. Having debris within your finished product will be unsightly and possibly damaging if left unchecked.

Troubleshooting Tips:
1. Ensure that you are using pure soy wax flakes, as other wax types can cause adverse reactions and affect the outcome of your candles.
2. Prior to pouring into containers, make sure to pre-heat containers to avoid rapid heat loss and potential shrinkage in finished candles.
3. If color fails to reach the desired shade, adjust with a different combination of dyes or options such as food coloring or crayons to get desired shade.
4. Dried wicks should be “primed” with melted wax in order for them to maintain their life span in the wax pool.
5. Avoid adding too much scent oil when making soy candles; too much fragrance will discolor the candle and cause it to burn faster than normal soy candles do.
6 . Make sure that you are using proper ventilation when melting your soy wax, as inhaling fumes from burning paraffin can be hazardous if exposed to large volumes over an extended period of time.
7 . Always test out your soy candle before releasing it onto the market by burning multiple samples with different wick sizes, additives and fragrances to ensure that any issues or inconsistencies can be caught early on before investing in supplies for large batches of natural soy wax candles
