Mention Different Types of Candles
Vanilla essential oil is popularly used for candle making. The sweet scent of vanilla can be used to create an inviting atmosphere or fragrance in the home. Vanilla essential oil can enhance the aroma of any candle and adds an all natural, luxurious quality to the overall effect.
Using vanilla essential oil for candle making allows you to create a unique, custom fragrance that perfectly suits your needs. You can use it in combination with different types of waxes, wicks and additional fragrances to make a custom blend that creates exactly the kind of mood you’re looking for.
Nowadays, candles come in many different forms and shapes such as votive, pillar and jar candles. Depending on the type of candle you are making you can use a variety of techniques when adding essential oils to them and these will usually depend on the type of wick and size that they have. When making votive candles, it is best to add 2-3 drops into the melted wax before pouring it into the moulds while pillar candles require 1-2 drops gently rubbed onto the top before adding extra melting wax over it. As for jar candles, 3-7 drops should be added directly into the molten wax depending on how scented you would like them to be.
Other types of candles such as tarts and melts are a fun way to enjoy scented candles without using a naked flame. Vanilla oil suited for these types can be fragranced by mixing 10ml with half a teaspoon of beeswax or soya wax along with 8ml coconut oil as additional base ingredients that also act as carriers for your chosen scent.
DIY Candle Making Tips
Vanilla essential oil can be a great addition to candles, providing an incredibly calming and comforting aroma.
When making a candle with vanilla essential oil, it is important to note that a little bit of oil goes a long way.
When adding the oil, it is best to start out with a low amount, such as 10 drops per one pound of wax, then increase until you achieve the desired level of scent. You do not want too much scent; otherwise it could be overpowering and won’t encourage customers or guests to buy or use your candle right away.
Once you add the vanilla essential oil to your melted wax, stir for approximately 5 minutes to ensure it is fully blended before pouring into molds. Another tip when working with essential oils in candle making it is always recommended that any equipment used is specifically used for this purpose as sharing some objects between cooking and craft supplies may contaminate other applications (soap/food).
What’s more, when selecting the container for your candles, quality vessels will make all the difference in preserving fragrance for the life of your candle ” chose glass over plastic whenever possible and remember that metal containers can increase cure times. Lastly, wicks should correspond with the diameter and surface area of your vessel: Too long wick will hinder performance while too short will risk not being able to light correctly!

Vanilla with Coconut:
Ingredients:
-Candle wax of your choice (3/4 lb)
-Coconut Fragrance Oil (2 oz)
-Vanilla Essential Oil (1/2 tsp)
-Wick of your choice
Instructions:
1. Begin by preparing your candle container or mold. Make sure that it has been thoroughly cleaned and dried. Attach the wick to your container so that you can begin pouring.
2. Heat the candle wax in a heat safe container slowly over low to medium heat until it has completely melted. This is done most easily by using a double boiler, but a regular saucepan works too.
3. Once the wax is liquid, slowly add in essential oils and fragrance oils until they are fully combined with the wax mixture. Stir well so that everything is dispersed evenly throughout the mix before pouring.
4. Carefully pour the mixture into your chosen container or mold, ensuring that you don’t lose any of the scent as you do so. If needed, use a wooden skewer to help guide the wick into place as you pour carefully into each corner of the mold or take extra care when transferring small containers of melted wax to larger ones.
5. Let everything sit until completely hardened and cooled down – this could anywhere from 2 hours up to 8 hours depending on your mixture! Remove any excess wax around the edges if needed when complete and voila! You now have homemade candles scented with vanilla essential oil! Enjoy!

When using vanilla essential oil for candle making, it is important to take safety precautions. Wear protective clothing such as goggles and gloves and avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of the reach of children, who could be tempted to taste the oil. Make sure the environment in which you are working with this flammable material is properly ventilated so that there is no risk of fire or combustion. Additionally, if any spills occur, use caution when attempting to clean them up and practice proper safety measures when disposing of materials. Lastly, always check the labels on essential oils before purchasing and use only those specifically designed for candle making purposes.
Discuss Storage Solutions
When it comes to storage solutions for candles made with vanilla essential oil, there are a few key tips to keep in mind. Firstly, try to store candles in a dry and cool area. This will help prevent the oils in the candle from breaking down due to moisture or heat. Secondly, always store away from direct sunlight as this also accelerates the breakdown of the oils and can lead to a loss of fragrance. Thirdly, keep an eye on the wick and trim it if needed – this helps ensure even burning and longevity of your candle’s life. Lastly, completely wrap the candle when not in use – this helps preserve the scent of the vanilla essential oil for longer periods of time. Following these steps can help extend both quality and life of your homemade candles!
